This was originally written about the first series of Big Brother in the UK. It was so hot that year, and they were always in the garden, hence "you can't breathe in the sunshine".

It felt like a mantra that the contestants would be thinking - there are people on the outside and they love me - in order to keep themselves sane. I think it works equally well for the modern phenomenon of Love Island.
